Civil Manager - Central Region



Land Development and Engineering (LDE) is a forward-thinking and well-resourced engineering company. We have a great opportunity for an experienced professional to lead and support our growing team, first and foremost in the central region (Hawkes Bay, Taupo, Taranaki).  Growing and developing our team is an important part of our business and this role is integral to both of these. 


Focus areas of responsibility are technical, client, and project management and leadership.  These encompass providing leadership and direction to members of the team; obtaining and maintaining client relationships; taking an autonomous but inclusive approach to project management; undertaking analysis, design and reviews; and being there for your team by giving guidance, expertise and advice.  We have a wide range of skill sets and experience across our offices and encourage involvement and interest into other areas of the business.


As this is a technical management role, it is responsible for the oversight and development of intermediate and junior engineers whilst still keeping your hand in by undertaking designs of a specialist nature.  You will be a regular user of Civil3D, AutoCAD or proprietary software of a similar nature.


You could be a senior civil engineer looking to grow into a management role – we provide a supportive management team to help you get to grips with the management level responsibilities, or you could be a civil manager looking for a new opportunity, perhaps outside of the rat race.  A change is as good as a holiday they say.


We will take a flexible approach to where you can be located within the Central North Island, such as Napier, Hastings, Palmerston North or Taupo linking closely with the Hawkes Bay office based in Napier.


You will need to be passionate and self-motivated and have worked in a New Zealand consultancy modelled business.


The technical competencies essential to this position are:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent degree
  • 5+ years’ experience working in NZ 
  • Working autonomously
  • Proficient in AutoCAD/Civil 3D modelling or similar proprietary software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
  • Staff management experience Desirable however training and support will be provided


If you are chartered or in the process of becoming chartered, this would be advantageous.
