Well known for its colour and mosaics, the Hundertwasser Toilets is an iconic building in central Kawakawa. It was originally constructed in 1999 over the site of previous public toilets and has suffered from settlement since construction.
We provided a robust investigation into the movement/settlement of the NZ landmark building. The purpose was to review the possible causes of the damage, if there was any danger to the public, and to provide potential remediation options.
Our engineers established the reasons for settlement and the structural adequacy and assessed the load capacity of the building. With continued settlement happening, short-term and long-term engineering recommendations were outlined in a detailed report and provided to the client.
