Our office in Warkworth has the small town feel while still being close enough to the big smoke and all the amenities that it has to offer. Outside of work there is easy access to Northland with its array of bays, beaches, and outdoor adventure options. The team are part of LDE’s Auckland region which includes offices in the Auckland CBD and in Botany.

The Warkworth team need an engineering geologist to complement the existing civil and structural presence at the office.

About the role

You’ll be supported by the greater Auckland geotechnical team (and those from other offices as needed) which comprises 15 geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists across the Auckland CBD and Botany offices. There is a varied workload and a broad range of projects for which we will involve you in all aspects of the project lifecycle from quoting and site investigation through to geotechnical interpretation, analysis and reporting. This presents an opportunity for autonomy and professional development and includes being client facing and developing invaluable skills in project management and business development.

As well as carrying out fieldwork elements, including geomorphological assessments, construction site inspections and site investigations (hand auger, machine boreholes & CPT testing), you will be developing geological models/plans and undertake geotechnical analysis (such as numerical liquefaction, consolidation settlement and slope stability analyses) and associated technical reporting. Furthermore, at LDE we encourage and mentor our staff to take an active role in project management and client interaction from early in their careers to develop well rounded consultants that are client focused and enthusiastic problem solvers.

About you

You will be able to demonstrate initiative and confidence in decision making and enjoy working in a relaxed and supportive office environment where everyone pitches in.

You will need:

  • Bachelor/Master of Science (Geology)
  • 3-5 years’ experience working with NZ Standards.
  • Proficiency with geotechnical software, e.g. Slide, CPeT-IT, Cliq
  • The intention to work towards PEngGeol would be advantageous.
