LDE provided geotechnical investigation and civil design for a proposed new visitors’ centre on a sloping site at Lake Waikaremoana.  The site was challenging with variable ground conditions, compressible soils, slope instability risks, and a high potential for seismic liquefaction and lateral spread.

As well as the investigation and provision of engineering recommendations and designs, we also provided general recommendations to assist with the detailed design of the structure.

The civil work scope of the project comprised:

• Design and design drawings of pavements, stormwater treatment and reticulation
• Contract and tender document preparation (including a schedule of quantities)
• Construction monitoring
