Land Development & Engineering (LDE) was engaged by the council to provide detailed geotechnical advice for the design of the treatment ponds for the proposed Mahia Beach Wastewater Scheme.
The sewerage ponds were surrounded by unstable hillsides, while underneath was soft, compressible ground. This site required creative solutions. We carried out a comprehensive geotechnical investigation of the area, which included mapping and modelling of the site, engineering geology based on surface and subsurface geological data, and review and analysis of matters relating to existing site stability and stability of slopes in relation to the pond design proposed.
The site characteristics and our engineering recommendations (including additional considerations/recommendations) were provided to the client in a detailed report.
