LDE undertook an assessment of a section of the Waingake Water Supply Pipeline extending from the intersection of Tarewa Road/Rabbit Road down to the Te Arai Stream. The purpose of the assessment was to review the stability of the ground along the pipeline route, identifying at-risk areas. An assessment of the effects of pine tree removal on the stability of the slopes through which the pipeline passes and whether retiring the land from plantation forestry is prudent was also part of the work scope.
We assessed, and GIS mapped the hazards and risks presented to 20km of Gisborne’s water supply pipeline. A summary report outlining the potential effects and risks and our engineering recommendations were supplied to the client.
