Adelaide Brighton Cement - Alternative Fuels Facility

Project Overview

WGA designed an alternative fuels facility at the Osborne cement plant operated by Adelaide Brighton Cement. The existing woodchip handling facility was used to receive, store and inject Process Engineered Fuel (PEF), an alternative fuel (mainly scrap wood) to the calciner. PEF is beneficial for its energy replacement value, as well as the renewable energy benefits such as a reduction in fossil fuel use and landfill emissions.

WGA worked with ABC to establish the project brief, then undertook feasibility and cost estimation to enable ABC to determine the projects viability. We have since completed all engineering detail design, cost estimation, developed contractor scopes, selected tenderers and managed subcontractors packages on behalf of ABC.

WGA’s design overcame the site challenges of high water-table, low headroom in the existing building and numerous tie-ins to existing.
