Aldinga ASR Modelling
Project Overview
The Aldinga Aquifer Storage and Recovery Scheme (ASR) stores treated wastewater over the winter period when demand is low. Over summer the stored water is recovered and distributed for irrigation.
WGA was engaged to develop a numerical groundwater model and complete predictive simulations to support changes to the operating conditions for managed aquifer recharge systems using reclaimed water in the McLaren Vale Prescribed Wells Area.
The results showed that the most practical option to achieve the required recovery volumes was to install two new production wells in the central portion of the site and operate the system as a quasi-aquifer storage transfer and recovery system.
