Conveyor Recovery

WGA provided design and construction management of repairs to a gallery damaged by fire at the steelworks operation in Whyalla. The conveyor transfers coal from the wharf to the coke ovens and it was imperative that the repairs were completed as quickly as possible to minimise the impact on operations.

WGA developed a solution to support and jack the conveyor section – spanning some 30m – to facilitate a full reinstatement of the structure.

This project provides an excellent example of how the experience and expertise of WGA staff across a range of services can be combined to deliver innovative solutions in a challenging timeframe and environment.
