Kohukohu Road Landslide Stabilisation

The project’s purpose was to stabilise the lower area of a dropout located between the Kohukohu Township and the Hokianga ferry ramp and reconstruct the roadway.

LDE provided engineering services for the remediation design and construction inspections for Colmix columns.

After pricing the initial wall design, our engineers explored additional design methods, which not only eliminated the need for unnecessary structures on the foreshore but saved the client $100,000.00

Deep Soil Mixing Columns were constructed to provide shearing resistance along the existing slip surface.  In addition to potential slip planes above the area, this solution would also reduce the risk of further displacement of the slip body.
