Northern Wanneroo Water Options Assessment

Project Overview

This project was commissioned to explore the potential water sources available to the North Wanneroo agricultural precinct.

WGA was engaged to research alternative water supplies and develop preliminary-level concept designs and cost estimates. WGA explored a number of potential water sources including sewer mining, surface water, stormwater, wastewater, groundwater and desalination. After consideration of the available water sources, storage options, land use, heritage, and environmental matters, a short list of four water supply concept options was developed. These options were developed for preliminary engineering concept design, to a level suitable to provide cost estimates in the order of ±40%.

The project identified Managed Aquifer Recharge as a method to provide balancing storage between the supply and peak demand period and included a hydrogeological assessment and MAR feasibility assessment.
