Civil Engineer – exceptional Intermediate or Senior

Are you ready : for that next career step?

Are you ready : to end countless hours commuting?

Are you wanting : to fit more into your day than just work? – how about considering this role in Gisborne.

We have an exciting and varied projects portfolio needing a skilled and experienced civil engineer who is ready to manage clients and projects while being part of our skilled team of engineers.

If you value autonomy, personal responsibility and engagement in a team environment, then this role could be just what you are looking for.   Those who are committed and wanting to build their career and extend themselves should look seriously at this opportunity.

Gisborne based and working across the Eastern region means you will be involved in work sites extending from the top of Hawke’s Bay up to East Cape – introducing you to new and complex challenges.  To support this a minimum of 4 years’ consulting and designing experience in New Zealand is a must.

We treat everyone with respect and trust our people to manage their own time within the scope of our flexible working hours.  This is highly valued by all who work at LDE.

LDE are a solid multi-discipline company with a diverse customer base which resulted in getting through 2024 with resilience and looking to growth across the business in 2025 and beyond.

What we can offer

  • A highly competitive hourly rate relevant to experience
  • Full time hours – 40 hours per week
  • Pay for every hour worked – hourly rate not salary
  • A supportive team
  • A friendly, inclusive work environment with flexible work arrangements
  • Relocation assistance for you/family.

About the role:

In a post-Cyclone Gabrielle environment, the work will involve traditional civil engineering analysis and design, specialist engineering with support and training plus the oversight and MSQA of projects delivered by you and the LDE team.

A geotechnical understanding would be beneficial but not critical however a willingness to learn is an absolute.

About you:

You‘ll have a level of initiative and confidence that enables you to give professional advice and make the best decisions for our clients.  You’ll be comfortable in dealing directly with clients and projects of varying sizes.  If you enjoy working in and contributing to a relaxed and supportive office environment where everyone pitches in, our Gisborne team could be your place.

You will need at least the following or an equivalent qualification:

  • A Bachelor/ Master of Engineering (Civil)
  • A working knowledge of NZ Standards
  • Proficient in Civil 3D and/or AutoCAD
  • 4+ years New Zealand experience
