As part of the wider development, LDE was engaged to provide the structural design of 3100m2 of retail space for the Pāpāmoa New World Supermarket, including loading bay facilities and mezzanine space.
The structural design of the primary building structure included light gauge steel purlins, structural steel portal frames, and full-height and partial-height precast concrete panels founded on a concrete foundation. The portals and foundations were designed to allow for ULS-level seismic settlements due to liquefaction.
The mezzanine structure included a Comflor suspended concrete floor system on structural steel beams with shear studs.
A 50m2 structural steel roof plant platform was also integrated into the design.
A key feature of this project was the utilisation of BIM360 to allow coordination with the architects, services engineers, and the client to ensure a well-coordinated design was carried out.
