Nelson Point North Yard Demolition

Various redundant assets within the North Yard at BHP’s Nelson Point site were nominated for demolition. The scope included a stacker, bucket wheel reclaimer, transfer stations, surge bins, a sample station, and high and low-level conveyors.

WGA undertook the engineering and site supervision for the project. This included engineering assessments, lift studies and work methodology planning.

The assets were safely demolished through the use of mechanical shears, crane deconstruction and explosive felling. The project was recognised in the 2016 World Demolition Awards, winning 1st place in the Industrial Category.
