Indigo Shire Transport Plan & Parking Studies

The Indigo Shire, located in regional Victoria, encompasses towns including Beechworth, Rutherglen, Yackandandah & Chiltern. Council identified the need to develop a transport plan to guide the future direction of transport infrastructure including road infrastructure, car parking, local area traffic management (LATM), road safety, land use development, and walking and cycling accessibility.

WGA played a key role in developing a visitor strategy for Indigo Shire. Through internal and external consultations, the team identified ways to improve car parking availability, encouraging visitors to extend their stay. WGA championed accessibility, ensuring all recommendations for pathways, infrastructure improvements (including new bike parking), and active transport options aligned with the Disability Discrimination Act, along with advocating for improved sustainable transport initiatives.

By crafting seamless transport plans and parking solutions for Indigo Shire, WGA helped foster a vibrant community, aimed at attracting residents, businesses, and visitors to support economic activity and aid sustainable growth.
