Industrial Waste to Hydrogen
Project Overview
A major waste to hydrogen Demonstration Facility located in Queensland, is a pioneering project for a global leader in metals recycling. This facility is part of an ongoing effort to advance recycling technology and enhance their corporate environmental sustainability initiatives.
The facility uses advanced technology to convert organic and inorganic waste into useful products like hydrogen, food grade carbon dioxide, sulphur and vitrified products. Instead of sending the waste to landfill, which this technology transforms it into valuable materials while significantly reducing emissions.
WGA was engaged to initially undertake third party reviews of the balance of design documentation as well as assessment of the imported modules to check their compliance with all applicable Australian Standards.
On successful completion, WGA was further engaged to complete balance of design works that included electrical, instrumentation and controls, balance of plant piping, process engineering, material handling, heavy lifting, automation, civil and structural works. This required ongoing logistics support and operational readiness.
The objectives of the facility were to test and refine the plant design for a larger commercial-scale operation, gather relevant data to facilitate regulatory approval processes.
By converting waste into valuable products, this global leader is significantly reducing landfill waste and demonstrating their commitment to a sustainable future and circular economy The success of this project will pave the way for the development of a larger commercial scale facility.
