Penneshaw Community Wastewater Management Scheme

The $5.5million Community Wastewater Management Scheme in Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island Provides a number of environmental, public health and economic benefits to the community as the township is no longer reliant on on-site effluent disposal.

WGA undertook the civil design and project superintendency on the project which consists of over 5km of full sewer drains, four pump stations and an off-grid Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is run completely by 50kW of solar panels and rechargeable solar batteries.

Due to the township’s seasonal tourist population in the summer months, solar was considered to be an appropriate alternative power supply to meet the increased demand in the peak season.
