Port Adelaide Football Club - Allan Scott HQ
Project Overview
Home to South Australia’s oldest football club – Port Adelaide Football Club – Alberton Oval and Allan Scott Headquarters have been transformed into a cutting-edge sports precinct. The redevelopment provides a high-performance training facility for the growing club and local community.
Key to the development was bringing the facility in line with current Australian Football League standards for both the men’s and women’s programs. This included the expansion and enhancement of the gym, indoor training areas and playing surfaces, change rooms and amenities, office space for coaching and support staff, and car parking.
WGA was engaged by and worked closely with Port Adelaide Football Club to deliver structural and civil engineering solutions that elevate both functionality and design. Along with essential infrastructure such as car parking and stormwater management systems, our team also provided the design for the new turf soccer pitch, which will be used as a rehabilitation area and to host matches for the community and local soccer club.
Structural works included the design of the addition to the Allan Scott Headquarters, which features a saw-tooth roof, paying homage to the greater Port Adelaide area and its maritime past. WGA also refurbished the Fos Williams Family Stand, incorporating gameday facilities to host AFLW matches and enhance the fan experience.
The successful completion of this iconic project provides an inclusive, world-class facility for the AFL and AFLW teams to hone their skills, while also serving as a gathering place for local teams and sports enthusiasts to come together and share their passion for the sport.
