Power Plant Ammonia Dilution Facility

The Ammonia Dilution Facility is an initiative aimed at improving the ammonia distribution system at the Power Station. This project involved relocating and redesigning the existing ammonia dilution and distribution system to a new facility capable of further diluting aqueous ammonia to low level concentrations before been distributed to the power plant steam generation system.

Under technical leadership of WGA, the design phase of the project reached completion in June. It necessitated a comprehensive front-end engineering design (FEED) report that encompassed process, mechanical, civil, and structural disciplines.

The engineering design report provided a detailed analysis of the:

• Mass and energy balance

• A review of the ammonia scrubber design

• Equipment sizing and selection (i.e. dosing and transfer pumps, dosing tank, pipe sizing, instrumentation selection etc.)

The project was designed to meet specific requirements, ensuring that the new system would enhance the overall efficiency and safety of the ammonia distribution process.

The collaboration between the client and WGA was instrumental in achieving the objectives of the project and delivering a successful outcome ensuring uninterrupted power generation in the region.
