Effective Runoff and Stormwater Treatment Solution

During heavy rainfall events, stormwater runoff can carry a range of contaminants, including organics, oils, nutrients, metals, and sediments, which can end up in local streams and waterways. In response to Auckland’s stormwater management regulations, LDE, in collaboration with Hynds and Elite (contractor), designed a comprehensive stormwater treatment system for a commercial yard. Our goal was to ensure that fine sediment, nutrients, metals, oils, organics, and bacteria trapped in organic matter were effectively removed before being discharged into the stormwater network.

To achieve this, LDE worked closely with Hynds to design an effective runoff and stormwater treatment solution that included the installation of a Hynds Up-Flo® Filter system, featuring 15 treatment modules. This design was specifically tailored to meet site constraints and the required regulatory standards for stormwater treatment in the region.

Our selection of the Up-Flo® Filter was based on its proven ability to handle large volumes of water while ensuring durability, longevity, and effective contaminant removal. The robust design provides a sustainable and reliable solution to meet stormwater management needs in urban environments.

Hynds supplied the system, including a 2550mm diameter manhole and 15 modules. The installation process, managed by our collaborative team, was completed swiftly and efficiently, with the entire system installed in under an hour.

By working together, LDE, Hynds, and Elite delivered an effective stormwater treatment solution that not only meets regulatory requirements but also supports long-term sustainability and water quality protection.
