BHP Olympic Dam - Awning for Machine Parking

The main store yard at BHP’s Olympic Dam site is highly trafficked by forklifts and other vehicles as part of the logistics of the site’s operations. Operator vehicles were previously parked in full sunlight.

WGA was engaged to design an awning adjacent to an existing building to provide for all-weather protection of the forklifts and assurance of operations. In close consultation with site users and BHP stakeholders, WGA assessed a number of options to optimise the functionality, constructability, cost, and safety of the structure.

Delivered in a timely fashion – even during a global shipping container shortage – with great collaboration between WGA, the client’s project team and the client end user.
