Casuarina Entertainment Precinct

The project involved re-development of the Entertainment Precinct in Casuarina Square, Northern Territory’s largest shopping centre, including two new buildings and the refurbishment of existing tenancies. It also featured new car park areas, a children’s play area, a water-play area and community space. WGA’s services consisted of detailed design and documentation of all civil and structural elements. Civil included site plans, pavement demolition and stormwater disposal, erosion and sediment control plans and stormwater hydraulic assessment.

Structurally, the integration of four existing buildings of differing ages and construction types, was a significant challenge. The large and intricate array of awnings, which acted as the showpieces of the precinct, required careful design to achieve the architects vision of delicacy, despite cyclonic wind loading.
