INPEX Ichthys Jetty
Project Overview
WGA undertook the design of local elements and the independent verification of all marine structures for the $34 billion INPEX gas processing project in Darwin.
The main elements of the verification task included the Module Offloading Facility and the Product Loading Jetty with an estimated value of $250m.
The product loading jetty comprises two 600m long access roadways, constructed with precast road sections spanning between concrete headstocks supported on steel piles.
A modular construction methodology was adopted due to the extremely remote location.
Appropriate robustness needed to be determined for some propriety items, which required WGA to redesign parts of the structure to ensure it was strong enough for the remote location.
WGA worked closely with the local community to determine the needs of various stakeholders which included local residents and ferry operators. Constructability and future maintenance was considered from the outset.
