M4 Motorway

The widening of the m4 motorway was part of a multi-billion dollar project delivered by the NSW Government, through Sydney Motorway Corporation, to ease traffic congestion in Sydney’s western suburbs.

The project consisted of tunnels and an elevated roadway. WestConnex, responsible for delivering the project on behalf of the NSW Government, appointed WGA to provide third party independent review of all heavy lifts for the elevated roadway.

The site featured steep slopes and congested spaces which required the use of two large capacity crawler cranes to place the 90 tonne girders, at large working radiuses.
