Mobil Workboat Retrieval

WGA’s expertise in heavy lifting and haulage was called upon in the “mothballing” of Mobil’s Port Stanvac refinery and port facilities.

We planned and executed the retrieval of three workboats, the largest being 180 tonnes, and a Mooring Buoy of 190 tonnes, from the water and store them safely on land where they could be easily maintained and protected.

A massive 600 tonne capacity Demag CC 2800 crawler crane was mobilised from Melbourne for the two major lifts, which took place on the banks of the Port River at Mobil’s Birkenhead terminal. The crane required its full reach, combined with a high tide, to safely make the lift.
